Piedmont
Gamondi
Carlo Gamondi was born in Acqui in 1868, on Strada della Maggiora. At just 22, he opened a small grocery store, setting the stage for his creation of the world-renowned Amaro Gamondi. By 1912, after earning various accolades, he transformed the store into a tasting corner, inviting locals to experience his unique amaro. Though his son Giuseppe Carlo promoted the brand, his untimely death at 40 left no heirs. The Barberis family then took over, expanding production and introducing new recipes based on Carlo’s original creations. Today, under Gianfranco Toso and Valter Porro, Amaro Gamondi, along with its bitter and aperitivo, continues to honor tradition with passion and craftsmanship
