The estate

Tenuta Lamborghini · Panicale, Umbria

  • Between the south shore of Lake Trasimeno and Panicale
  • 100 hectares, 36 of them vineyard
  • Sangiovese, Ciliegiolo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon

Ferruccio Lamborghini bought La Fiorita, a farm estate on the lake, and moved there in 1968. His daughter Patrizia runs it today, and Riccardo Cotarella has made the wine for more than twenty years.

The bull

Ferruccio's star sign became the emblem of his new estate. Its first wine, Sangue di Miura, was made with the winemaker Giorgio Grai.

Two methods

Charmat · Metodo classico

  • Ottagonale: Charmat, Umbrian grapes
  • The Legend: metodo classico, 100% Pinot Noir, aged 36 months, organic
  • Brut Gold, Platinum: Charmat, Pinot Bianco and Chardonnay, Veneto

Charmat wines take their second fermentation in a pressurised tank, which keeps them fresh and fruit-led. Metodo classico wines take theirs in the bottle you pour from, and wait longer for it.
